Abstract
Lysozyme showed no protective effect against experimentally induced C. albicans infections in mice injected intraperitoneally. It was, however, effective in reducing intradermal lesions caused by C. albicans in rabbits. The efficacy of lyosozyme varies with the route of administration (intravenous, intraperitoneal, intramuscular, cutaneous). In order to evaluate lysozyme activity correctly, one must take into account the increase in efficacy with time and ability to accelerate to healing intradermal lesions caused by C. albicans.
