Abstract
A direct pressure measurement system consists of a mechanical coupling device (cannula, tubing), transducer, amplifier, and display unit. However, the characteristics of such measuring systems are complex and those in current clinical use are imperfect at best. Overreliance on their data can be dangerous and may lead to errors in patient management. This case report illustrates this point.
