Abstract

In recent years, measurement while drilling(MWD) and underground-oriented control technology have made great progress, and more and more sensors and control units are applied in down hole. For drilling equipment and downhole measurement tools which work for a long time in the underground, the stronger its functions and the more sensors and control actuators used, it means that the greater demands for electricity. Therefore, a kind of power source which can work for a long time in the underground and output high-power electric energy must be researched and developed. Through analysis and comparison of existing underground power, the paper introduced a new type of battery nipple carrying high-capacity heat-resistant batteries. It can work normally more than 500 hours in the condition of 175C, severe vibration, impacts and bearing large acceleration. It can supply uninterrupted electricity for the downhole instrument. Studies have shown that the battery nipple design is scientifically and rationally, and the application of this type of battery nipple can be very widely.
