Abstract

Resistance to antineoplastic drugs is a major impediment to further improvements in the chemotherapy of brain tumors. The mechanisms of drug resistance are diverse; however, recent experimental studies are helping to identify new mechanisms and examine their relative contribution to drug resistance. An understanding of the biology of drug resistance is essential to develop clinically applicable methods to circumvent resistance and increase chemotherapy effectiveness.
