Abstract

An investigation into the incidence of serum anti-uveal and anti-lens antibodies in patients with uveitis of varied aetiology shows a remarkable difference in the incidence of anti-uveal antibody in the different aetiological groups but particularly in endogenous anterior uveitis and traumatic iritis. Thus it would appear that anti-uveal antibody occurs not secondarily to uveal tissue damage but probably as an indication of an immunopathological aetiology. The incidence of anti-lens antibody is consistently higher in patients with uveitis compared to normals or controls.
