Abstract

A rapid, effective procedure for the preparation of renaturable globin chains from human hemoglobin is described. The method utilizes hydrophobic interaction chromatography in an acid medium to separate the α and β chains of apohemoglobin. Rapid procedures for reconstitution of hemoglobin from these chains and hemin are also presented.
