Abstract

While studying serially sectioned celloidin embedded human larynges, the authors made the curious observation of the presence of striated muscle fibres within nerves. The embryologic basis for this observation is intra neural entrapment of mesodermal material destined for the development of the branchial arches. From a practical standpoint, it is important to be aware of such structures as they may be mistaken for muscle spindles.
