Abstract
A study was carried out to validate an algorithm for identifying occurrences of light anesthesia (LA) using computerized anesthesia records. A total of 162 computerized anesthesia records were divided into two-minute epochs, in which 81 events of LA were identified by two observers who concurred in their findings. In addition, 98 additional anesthesia records were divided into ten minute epochs and each was classified by the reviewers as LA or non-LA. LA was detected using a receiver-operator characteristic (ROC) curve.
