Acute occlusion of the internal carotid artery without anterior collateral circulation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Case reports of two patients who died within 54 hours after the onset of symptoms due to an occlusion of the internal carotid artery are presented. Bilateral carotid arteriography failed to demonstrate any anterior collateral circulation to their involved cerebral hemispheres. A possible cause and effect relationship is suggested.
