To the Editor: … Being statistically ignorant, and probably biased, I have trouble dealing with one statement in the paper by Boice et al. (Nov. 3 issue) — namely, that the “six-year cumulative mean risk … of acquiring a leukemic disorder after treatment with semustine was 4.0 … percent.”* There were 14 cases of leukemia or a related disorder among a total of 2067 patients treated with the drug, which I calculate as a total frequency of 0.68 percent for the duration of the period of observation.
