Abstract
Movement disorders are common in the general population, and have a significant impact in terms of their effect on patients’ quality of life. This chapter provides an overview of the major categories of both hypokinetic and hyperkinetic movement disorders. The chapter also provides a framework to recognize and diagnose the major categories of movement disorders, which will enable appropriate further diagnostic workup and treatment.
