Abstract

The use of a single, superiorly-based dermal pedicle for nipple and areolar transposition permits great mobility without resultant distortion, from virtually any preoperative location, in any breast excision or reconstruction. The nipple will survive on its superior dermal plexus, despite any compromise in the normal perforating vascular supply from the breast parenchyma below.
