Abstract

Endotracheal intubation of guinea pigs under methoxyflurane anesthesia was accomplished using plastic tubing and a curved metal stylet. Prolonged endotracheal intubation was feasible and with practice is not harmful to the animal. Using this technique, it was possible to keep the animal under controlled respiration for 4-6 hours.
