Abstract

Constructed by coumarin fluorophore and dinitrophenyl ether moiety, a new probe CTN was synthesized for hydrogen sulfide (H2S) detection. The probe featured with high sensitivity and good selectivity. Compound CTO produced by the reaction of CTN with H2S possesses very high quantum yield. Up to 200-fold fluorescence enhancement toward H2S was observed and the detection limit was calculated to be as low as 90 nM. Moreover, CTN is membrane-permeable and suitable for visualization of H2S in living cells.
