Abstract

The antiemetic effect of droperidol was compared with that of prochlorperazine in women receiving cis-diamminedichloroplatinum. Droperidol was found to be more effective in relieving the vomiting induced by this chemotherapeutic agent. Droperidol is a butyrophenone used widely in anesthetic practice as a sedative, but the effective antiemetic dose is lower than the sedative dose.
