Abstract

The average American spends 7 hours per day staring at a screen, an activity which contributes to dry eye. Blink frequency is reduced by 66%, leading to increased evaporation of tears. Positioning the screen 4 to 5 inches below eye level can reduce surface exposure and evaporation.
