Étranger, moi?

This text is a reflection on the difficulty of being “me” and on the complexity of the gesture of going toward the other. It first develops the theme of identity, including its fragility and its limits, before addressing the question of the other, real or fantasized, near or far, which can challenge one’s own identity and threaten its completeness. Hence the ancient recourse, outside of any characterized pathology, to artifices such as the Androgyne or the Double, which offer a certain sense of security when solitude is experienced as an amputation. The hypothesis developed on our capacity to interact with others corresponds to the awareness that we are partially strangers to ourselves, and therefore that we are partially similar to the other.
