ASSISTANT PROFESSOR | Medicine, Cardiology

Biography

Dr. Timothy Kenny is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Cardiology and a Principal Investigator in the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute. Dr. Kenny completed his PhD at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and postdoctoral training at The Rockefeller University. Dr. Kenny’s past work revealed how metabolic organelles, such as the mitochondria, influence disease pathogenesis and progression. His recent studies have uncovered the molecular mechanisms by which key nutrients, such as choline, are obtained by cells and used to fuel organismal metabolism. The Kenny Laboratory studies how nutrient transport and cellular metabolism influence physiology and disease using state-of-the-art systems biology approaches.
