Biography

Dr. Kurtz joined Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West in 2011. Dr. Kurtz completed her critical care fellowship at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan after also completing her Internal Medicine Residency at St. Vincent’s. She received her medical degree from the University at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and having a special interest in brain injured patients, she became board certified in Neurocritical Care in 2013. She works in a broad range of Intensive Care Units including the Medical, Surgical and Neurosciences ICUs. She has for several years acted as liaison to LiveOnNY for Mount Sinai West Hospital, and is the Co-Chair of the Donor Council for Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West Hospitals.

In addition to clinical activities Dr. Kurtz is Assistant Director of the Center for Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS), where modern simulation technology is utilized to provide high level medical education to multidisciplinary health care professionals, including Internal Medicine residents and Pulmonary Critical Care fellows. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Expert and acts as Co-Chair of the curriculum committee. She is involved in several research projects through CAMS.
