Biography
Dr. Hu earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with Honors and Distinction, in addition to receiving the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship and the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. She then went on to receive her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and was awarded numerous grants and fellowships for medical research. During her time at Harvard, she was also the recipient ofthe American Medical Association Physicians of Tomorrow Award as well as their Leadership Award. Dr. Hu completed her medical internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, caring for patients with life-threatening illness and continuing to pursue her burgeoning interest in medical dermatology. She went on to complete her dermatology residency at New York University in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology. During her residency, Dr. Hu was awarded the Husik Prize for the best research paper, as well as the George Lipkin Prize, identified by the faculty as the resident who is an excellent clinician with scholarly interest and research productivity. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Hu has published over 20 academic papers and delivered even more presentations and lectures both regionally and nationally. She has served as author and editor of numerous textbooks within the field of dermatology. While Dr. Hu gained a comprehensive background in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, she elected to complete an extra year of fellowship training in dermatopathology at NYU, which provides her with additional expertise to diagnose skin cancers and complex dermatologic conditions under the microscope. Given her comprehensive training, Dr. Hu has cultivated special interests in adult and pediatric dermatology, as well as cosmetic dermatology and dermatopathology, all of which she currently practices. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, and is an active diplomate of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatopathology.
