Biography

Dr. Hankerson is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Community Engagement in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Director of the Mental Health Equity Research at the Institute for Health Equity Research.

Through Community Partnered Participatory Research, a manualized model of community engagement developed by Drs. Kenneth Wells and Loretta Jones, he is exploring opportunities to partner with community-based organizations to deliver mental wellness services and supports to Black and Latinx people where they live.

His research focuses on reducing racial/ethnic disparities in mental health treatment and engaging faith-based organizations in mental health services research. Here are is current research projects.
