Biography
Dr. Gaikwad is an Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Gaikwad received his Doctor of Medicine education from University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Aurora, CO and he did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY. He proceeded to do a fellowship in Infectious Diseases in the combined MSSLW and Beth Israel program, New York, NY and he is joining MSSLW right after completing his fellowship training. As a fellow, he pursued a research project under the mentorship of Drs. Pearlman and Koshy on the use, utility and outcomes of proximal bone margin cultures and pathologic analyses in persons undergoing bone resection for possible osteomyelitis. He will be seeing patients at the Institute for Advanced Medicine Samuel’s clinic at Mount Sinai West and will be providing Infectious Disease consultation services at both MSSLW.
