Biography

Parul Agarwal, PhD completed PhD in health outcomes research andher dissertation research focused on longitudinal patterns and economicconsequences of emergency department visits among Medicaid beneficiaries. Inher research, she utilized primary and retrospective databases to conductstudies on economic and health outcomes associated with different healthconditions and impact of policy formulation. She leverages large administrativeclaims databases, electronic health records, and large-scale survey databasesin her research. Currently as health economics researcher at Mount Sinai herresearch is focused on evaluating outcomes associated with bedside delivery ofmedications program, hospital readmissions among patients with respiratoryconditions, and economic and health outcomes associated with hepatic liverresections and chronic mitral regurgitation. Her primary focus is on thedevelopment and application of statistical methods using large-scaleobservational data for comparing and optimizing treatment and healthcaredelivery strategies. She is currently developing statistical methods andframework for inferring cause and effect relationships from nonexperimentaldata with complex structures; sensitivity analysis to unmeasured confounding;comparative effectiveness research in the context of more than two treatmentregimens; longitudinal data analysis and survival analysis.
