Biography
Dr. Oren Cohen, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine. He completed Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Cohen continued with sub-specialty Fellowship training at Mount Sinai in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM), as well as Sleep Medicine. He served as Chief Fellow during his final year of PCCM Fellowship.
Research interests
Dr. Cohen's research interests include exploring the relationships between obstructive sleep apnea, local and systemic inflammation, and cardiovascular disease risk and outcomes. He received research funding from the American Thoracic Society's (ATS) ASPIRE Fellowship, as well as the Stony Wold-Herbert Fund. Additionally, Dr. Cohen served as the Chair of the ATS Assembly on Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology's Early Career Working Group from 2021-2023. Dr. Cohen's clinical interests include management of sleep-related breathing disorders and other sleep disorders, as well as pulmonary disorders including hypercarbic respiratory failure.
