Biography

Lawrence B. Cohen, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He graduated from Drexel University School of Medicine with highest honors and completed his medical residency and fellowship training in gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Cohen's research interests include gastrointestinal endoscopy, endoscopic sedation and quality of care. He has authored more than 250 book chapters, articles and abstracts and serves on the editorial board or as a scientific reviewer for every major journal in the field of gastroenterology. He chaired the American College of Gastroenterology's Practice Management Committee as well as the World Endoscopy Organization's Standards of Practice and Publications Committee. Additionally, he served on the board of directors of the Gastrointestinal Quality Initiative Consortium (GIQuIC) and the American College of Gastroenterology's Quality Council, as well as on numerous other societal committees including the Quality in Endoscopy Committee (ASGE) and FDA Matter's Committee (ACG). His contributions to gastroenterology and expertise in the field have been recognized by his peers who selected him to be listed in Best Doctors in America, America's Best Gastroenterologists and Top Doctors New York.
