SYSTEM CHIEF | Surgical Oncology
Dr. James Oh Park is a System Chief of Surgical Oncology, at Mount Sinai Hospital Department of Surgery. He is a highly distinguished surgical oncologist with extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery for diseases of the liver, pancreas, and upper gastrointestinal tract. He is a recognized leader in the field, actively involved in research, education, and clinical service. His clinical focus is on minimally invasive surgery for complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies, with extensive experience in robotic surgery, performing the first robot-assisted liver resection in the Pacific Northwest. He established the University of Washington Robotic HPB Surgery Program, making UW the only robust robotic program performing these procedures in Washington State.
Dr. Park received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his post-medical school training with internships and residencies at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He further specialized in Surgical Oncology with a fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Park is actively involved in research on cutting-edge applications of nanotechnology for the diagnosis and treatment of primary liver cancer. He holds multiple patents related to his research endeavors.
Dr. Park has received numerous awards and recognitions, including being named a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” and a Seattle Met Magazine “Top Doctor” in Cancer Surgery. He is a dedicated educator who has mentored and trained numerous medical students and residents.
