Biography
This exceptionally bright physician completed his B.S. and M.D. magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico in 1999 and 2003 respectively. Dr. Alvarez completed two residencies, the first in Internal Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and a second in Dermatology at the same institution. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in August 2006 and held that position for ten months while in his dermatology residency. Dr. Alvarez is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Dermatology and is licensed to practice in several states including New York. During his years as a student he took on many leadership roles serving on important committees including but not limited to serving as the vice president of the Student Council at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine; and as a member of the Dean’s Committee on Planning and Strategy, the Graduate Medical Education Committee, the Internal Review Subcommittee and the Admissions Committee of that institution. Dr. Alvarez also served as the ambassador for the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau and as Treasurer for the Sociedad de Medicos Graduados de la UPR. Clearly, Dr. Alvarez is enormously energetic and very productive.
