Biography

Dr. Thum is a practicing emergency physician and informaticist with interests in usability, Health IT safety and new paradigms of healthcare delivery and engagement such as telemedicine and digital health. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and Board Certified in Clinical Informatics by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Thum graduated magna cum laude from Drexel University after which he completed his MD at Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Thum has extensive experience in usability, implementation and workflow redesign. He conducted usability testing for a NIH-NIA funded study Improving management of acute pain for older adults in the Emergency Department (ED) setting. He has served as a consultant and advisor to telemedicine startups and has organized nationally attended conferences on connected health. He has used telemedicine to deliver care locally for a fortune 500 company in Midtown and as far away as a military base in Djibouti.
