Biography

Dr. Antoine Tony Abed is quadruple Board-Certified (Internal medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care and sleep Medicine). He was full-time faculty at St. Luke’s Pulmonary/Critical Care division from 1990 until 2000, when he went into private practice with Dr. Joseph Ghassibi. He maintains close ties to the pulmonary/critical care division, serving as Senior Attending on different rotations throughout the year. He also serves as Senior Ward Attending for the Department of Internal Medicine, covering one of the ward teams, the whole year . He is actively involved in teaching the house staff and fellows, implementing evidence-based medicine, stressing accepted guidelines and decreasing length of stay. In addition, Dr. Abed runs the Ventilator Unit at Isabella geriatric center, serving as a close liason between that institution and St. Luke’s/Roosevelt hospital center, to insure smooth transition and close follow-up of patients between these 2 health-care facilities. Dr. Abed has had publications focusing on respiratory muscles and on pneumocystis pneumonia.
