ASSISTANT PROFESSOR | Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Angie Buttigieg, MD, graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Microbiology and a minor in Medical Anthropology. She attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and is a graduate of the leadership of medicine in the underserved program. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center where she graduated with a certificate in global health. After residency, she worked as a general pediatrician and hospitalist at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She then completed her pediatric hospital medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. During the fellowship, Dr. Buttigieg focused on medical education and quality improvement. Her fellowship projects include developing a workshop to teach cross-cultural communication to residents and a quality improvement project aimed at improving documentation of elevated PEWS scores. After graduating fellowship, she joined the pediatric faculty as a hospitalist at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital in 2022. Currently, Dr. Buttigieg is part of a qualitative study to improve nighttime communication. She is also on the MD Admissions Committee for the Icahn School of Medicine and is an active member in both local and national advocacy committees.
